New LED Corn Lights
I bought some LED Corn Lights on Amazon and they came today. I immediately retired all my CFLs by replacing them with LEDs. The new light temperature is a little surreal for now.
My inside environment
I live and work in a long narrow room, half of an attic. I have two ceiling lamps on a switch at the door. I have three work stations each with a black flexible desk lamp which I bought at Walmart when I worked there. Lastly I have an old fashion floor lamp with a badly yellowed shade at my R&R station aka the couch. I seldom turn on the main lights, I prefer to only light the station I’m at. Though I leave the R&R light on most of the time, its the farthest from my desk. I can transverse my room in the dark but I prefer not to, that’s why I leave it on. Also on the R&R stand is a CFL black light, the only CFL left.
So now I’m living in a surreal world of cooler light and will be until my mind changes its white balance.
I liked CFLs at first even though I knew they would emit some radiation which I felt insignificant. Then I noticed they weren’t lasting as long as promised. Mostly they suffered from the tube breaking loose from the base. Then after it breaks you have a disposal problem. Price slowed my acquisition of the LEDs but $19/6 70 W equivalent bulbs seemed fair.
Frankly my mind is adapting to the new white balance quickly. I might order another set for spares even though I may not need them for years.
The urge to clean
Yesterday I had the urge to straighten up the place. I don’t get those urges often so I’ve found it best to follow them when I do. So I did. The urge ended with an extension to my window sill. Now I can put the fan on the sill for maximum fresh airflow. The extension started it’s life has a piece of 3/4″ finished one side plywood scrap which I used to prop up the AC unit which now fits right on the extension.
Learning an old tool
I have a nice 4×5 Wacom Tablet. I haven’t been using it very often but now I am. When I first got it I learned to use it using a free puzzle app. I would load in a picture and use the tablet and pen to flick the pieces together. Now I’m learning to draw with it in Illustrator.
I need more memory for my machine
I’m switching from LightRoom to Illustrator but I don’t have the memory to run them both at the same time. I’m going to run a yard sale to get the money but that sequence starts with fixing my van. Fixing my van starts a lot of different sequences.
I logged into my machine after coming in earlier and it stalled. I got impatient and did a hard re-boot loosing 2 files in Illustrator, a practice alphabet and a lizard head. Oh well. If I were more patient I’d still have them. Some times Illustrator preserves files when power is disrupted, some times it doesn’t. Maybe I should check the settings.
Here is a sampler of what I’ve done so far. It is all derivative.
The lizard head I lost was also derivative but the practice alphabet was mine and included a new lizard head. Time to redo it.
Losing my mind
My web host has changed something on its servers. Safari pukes when I try to update a page so I started using FireFox. FireFox glitches too but at least I can recover from it. I may see what happens in Chrome but I don’t like it much.
